DON BOSCO GREEN ALLIANCE

Feb 2019: Since its launch only a month ago in Jan 2019, the Don Bosco Green Alliance Program in our school has grown exponentially. Led by students in Class 9, the first initiative was to begin a program to recycle waste materials in the school which includes paper and plastics

Students of Class 9 raised funds to set up a nursery to add more plants to our school campus. With the guidance of Class 3 teachers and help of the Class 9 students, Class 3 students are working on a vertical garden, Green Wall Project.

Many more projects and initiatives to meet our 3 areas of concentration mentioned below, will be launched over the coming months.

Communication Club at Don Bosco Schoo

December 2018: The Communication Club activities in December at Don Bosco School were based on the theme of Christmas. After some fun ice-breaker activities like pining a nose on Frosty the Snowman and reciting tongue twisters, students worked in groups to design their own product along with brand imaging and designing their own logo, after which they gave a presentation of their product. Some of the activities included writing an original story and writing book reviews and presenting it before the class to help develop public speaking skills. The highlight for the month’s activities was watching the movie ‘Angels Sing’ after which students designed a poster with their movie review and presented it. Other highlights were Santa’s visit to the communications club workshop and the prizes won by students for different activities.

All students were given story books carefully selected by their instructor, Mrs. Kamala, appropriate for the theme and the age groups. After reading their books students wrote book reviews and presenting their book report before the class, it was good to see some of the students growing in their confidence as public speakers.
